Description

Vacancies available in:

  • Child and Family Teams - Child Assessment Team (shorter term cases/Child Protection)
  • Child and Family Teams – medium to longer term cases.
  • undertaking a caseload of statutory work in child protection, working with children, young people and their families to achieve positive outcomes; identifying and facilitating appropriate services and resources, regularly monitoring and reviewing services to ensure that they are provided effectively; maintaining full and accurate records, preparing and presenting reports; participating in case reviews/conferences and providing recommendations, evidence and written assessments for appropriate legal proceedings.

GSCC/CCW registration is necessary.

We are looking for YOU:

  • You have a qualification in Social work
  • You are GSCC or CCW registered or have at least received a letter of acknowledgement from one of the care councils.
  • You have a high level of English and lots of enthusiasm
  • Ideally you have experience in a similar environment and are good at coping with pressure.
  • You have a driving licence and the willingness to drive in the UK
  • You value friendly and supportive teams
  • If all goes well, you want to stay in the job for at least 2 years
  • And MOST IMPORTANTLY you are passionate about promoting the rights of the children!

 

Contracts

All contracts will be permanent unless otherwise stated. As a new worker you will be expected to complete a 6 month probationary period after which your contract will be confirmed in writing. This is standard procedure and in most circumstances only an administrative procedure.

Pay and conditions may vary slightly depending on the local authority you end up working for.

As a general guide starting salary for a qualified Social Worker is generally no less than 25 000€ per annum, but salary scales do differ widely depending on which local authority you work for. Your salary will be paid in 12 equal payments, unlike Spain, where you would normally get extra holiday payments in the summer and at Christmas.

All public holidays will be paid and you will be entitled to around 22 paid days leave a year. If you work additional hours you should expect to receive time off in lieu. It is unusual for local authorities to pay overtime as they have strict budgetary constraints to adher to. The normal working week is 36 hours, but there are some local variations.

You can expect regular supervision of your work and your case load You should ensure that you have a contract with your line manager which states how regularly you have supervision. Your case load will be limited in accordance with local procedures.
